2009 Seasonal and H1N1 Flu Info

In 2009 public health agencies are addressing two different strains of influenza.

Seasonal Flu

Seasonal flu affects hundreds of thousands of people across the country each year and approximately 26,000 people die from the seasonal flu every year.  The most important thing we can do is to get a seasonal flu shot this year and every year.  For more information on the seasonal flu and for a list of seasonal flu clinics in our area, please visit our Seasonal Flu Information Section.

H1N1

Flu Local, state and federal public health authorities are working to minimize the impact of the 2009 Pandemic H1N1 Flu. We have been tracking activity from this virus since it was first identified in the Spring of 2009. You may also have heard this virus referred to as the “swine flu.” For more information on 2009 Pandemic H1N1 flu please visit our H1N1 Flu Information Section.

Flu Prevention

In addition to getting vaccinated against these flu viruses, it is important that we all take simple prevention measures to stop the spread of these and other communicable diseases.  Wash your hands, sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve instead of your hands, keep your hands away from your face, and STAY HOME WHEN YOU ARE SICK!  For more information on things you can do to keep yourself and your family healthy, visit our Healthy Habits page.
