DESCRIPTION:Naugatuck Valley Health District encourages residents to dispose of unneeded medications at upcoming Medication Take Back Event in Derby\nNaugatuck Valley Health District (NVHD) is pleased to once again partner with the Derby Police Department and Derby Youth Services Bureau to host a Medication Take Back event on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 10:00am – 2:00pm. The drive-up event will take place outside Bradley School (155 David Humphrey Rd, Derby, CT 06418). Aligned with the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and the Naugatuck Valley Community Health Improvement Plan initiative focused on substance use and drug overdose prevention, this event is being held in reflection of our joint commitment to safety and health by encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes.\n \nAny person can come and safely dispose of unused or unwanted medications with no questions asked!\n \n\nDrive up and place your car in park\nDrop off accepted medications (no questions asked!)\nDrive away \n\n \nIt’s that easy!\n\n\n\n \nAccepted:\n•        Over-the-counter medications\n•        Prescription medications\n•        Medication samples\n•        Medications for household pets\n•        Medicated lotions or ointments\n•        Vape devices (battery must be removed)\nNot Accepted:\n•        Needles or other “sharps”\n•        Hazardous waste\n•        Thermometers\n•        Personal care products (shampoo, etc.)\n\n\n\nIf you cannot make it to the event, you can drop off accepted items in a medication drop box, no questions asked, located in the lobbies of the following local police departments: Ansonia Police Department, Naugatuck Police Department, or Shelton Police Department ( https://www.facebook.com/SheltonCTPolice?__cft__%5b0%5d=AZXa0LGvTZH-npjzacHm4MvukLSm4A0WovHAOBi9gdUIYqJB5A1mPdYfHzNOtpRE_GpMTESQczIzlY2v4BiMoijBS0VMQdP-mHHUBHAvs1Ny5WClfYx_qphg4D1u5fiV27E&amp;__tn__=-%5dK-R ).\n \nHomebound residents or individuals desiring to dispose of medication at home may call NVHD’s Naugatuck Valley Overdose Prevention & Education (NOPE) Program at 203-881-3255 x 103 and request a disposal pouch to safely discard pills, patches, and liquid in your home garbage without harming the environment or worrying about a person or animal accessing the medication (while supplies last).\n \nQuestions regarding the Derby Medication Take Back Event should be directed to John Saccu, Director of the Derby Youth Services Bureau at jsaccu@gmail.com ( mailto:jsaccu@gmail.com ).\n \nMedicationTake Back Day April 22 2023\n
