Fish Consumption Advisories issued for Housatonic River and the Naugatuck River

Connecticut Department of Public Health in coordination with Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) issued new or updated consumption advisories for certain fish species in 11 waterbodies in Connecticut.

New advisories were issued for the Housatonic River (near O’Sullivan’s Island in Derby) and the Naugatuck River. Previously, neither fishing areas had specific consumption recommendations. The new recommendation is to limit consumption of fish from these two areas to one meal per month due to elevated levels of PFOS.
